12.00pm - 4.00pm
In the Watercolour Rooms
Continuing the theme of 'miniatures' at Harewood, we present this selection of some of House's diminutive delights - masterpieces of applied art that deserve a closer look.
Visitors will be able to examine small decorative items and 'objets de vertu' with a Victorian focus relating to our Presence or Absence exhibition.
The items on display belonged to five women associated with Harewood: the 3rd, 4th and 5th Countesses, as well as Queen Victoria and Lady Canning, who served as a Lady of the Bedchamber to the Queen for thirteen years and became a close friend.
These precious, often personal, objects offer a more intimate view of these women. Some of the details, such as the locks of children's hair in Lady Louisa's necklace are quite moving and offer a glimpse of personal relationships with family and friends.
Made using the finest craft materials and techniques, many of these sublime objects have never been on display to the public before.
Entrance to this event is included with a day ticket
