Saturday 19 October 2013
10.00am - 4.00pm
In the House State Rooms and Education Suite
The ravages of time along with daily wear and tear combine to deteriorate precious historical textiles.
This day course combines a study of textiles at Harewood that have been worn, damaged, repaired and conserved with practical workshops exploring textile craft techniques.
A tour will introduce interesting items from the collection along with aspects of their care and conservation.
Taking inspiration from these examples, Hannah will show you how to use traditional mending skills such as patching and darning, along with unconventional surface distressing techniques for creative textiles.
You will take away small samples of the different techniques along with the skills to develop further designs and projects.
No previous experience of embroidery is required.
Refreshments and a sandwich lunch are included.
