Tour de France 2014
Saturday 5 July 2014 - Sunday 6 July 2014
Earlier today details of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France 2014 were announced. The 101st edition of Le Tour will include two stages in Yorkshire with the Grand Départ from Leeds.
Stage 1 of the route will start at Leeds Town Hall and head towards Harewood House then Otley, Ilkley, Skipton, Hawes, Ripon and finishing in Harrogate. Stage 2 starts in York and ends in Sheffield taking in sites such as Knaresborough, Haworth, Cragg Vale, Holmfirth and Holme Moss.
Mike Schafer, CEO of Harewood House Trust said: ‘We are delighted to have been involved in the bidding process and we’re enjoying the excitement of today’s announcement. Our gardens have been voted as the nation’s most romantic so it’s apt that we’re involved in Stage One, the ‘Romantic Stage.’ We will work hard to help showcase the beautiful county of Yorkshire to the world. This is an opportunity for us all and we look forward to July 2014.’
