In 1922, HRH Princess Mary married Henry Viscount Lascelles. In 1929, after the death of the 5th Earl of Harewood, Princess Mary and the 6th Earl of Harewood asked Sir Herbert Baker to design some new features for Harewood House, ready for their imminent move to Harewood. This room designed by Baker was used by Princess Mary as her Dressing Room.
The fireplace recess with its two cupboards containing some of Princess Mary's collection of rose quartz and jade, has in the apse a nymph inspired by Botticelli and designed by Sir Charles Wheeler, P.R.A. To the left and right of it are the coats of arms of Princess Mary and the 6th Earl of Harewood.
The clock on the mantelpiece is by Sarton of Liége. The many portraits of Princess Mary include works by Salisbury, Birley and Solomon.
