Originally the State Dressing Room en suite with the State Bedroom, this room was transformed by Barry into a Victorian library. Between the tall bookcases and the ceiling is a 17th century wall-covering of Spanish leather, put there to hide the heavy paint work added by Barry.
During the 19th and 20th centuries this room was used by the family as a breakfast room.
On the table stands a bronze head of the young Queen Victoria, who as a girl visited Harewood. Next to this stands a photograph taken at the time of her Diamond Jubilee in 1897, sixty-two years later.
There are also photographs of the next five sovereigns of this country, either grouped on the Royal Yacht Britannia or on the occasion of the coronations of 1937 and 1953. The King's command to Henry, 5th Earl of Harewood to attend the coronation of 1902 and a white bust of Princess Alexandra of Denmark stand in the middle of the table.
