    All Saints Church, Harewood

Churchyard - bluebellsNestling among the trees to the north of Harewood House is All Saints Church. It dates back to the 15th century, with alterations and modernizations made by Harewood’s builder Edwin Lascelles and his Victorian successors.

It is home to what is generally recognised as the largest and finest collection of medieval alabaster tombs in any English church outside a cathedral, and the last resting places of members of the Redman, Ryther and Gascoigne families, all former owners of Harewood Castle. Here they lie peacefully, dressed in the fashions of the day, the men in armour, the women wearing fine dresses with jewellery and headdresses.

The 6th Earl of Harewood and his wife, HRH Princess Mary The Princess Royal, daughter of King George V, are both buried here. Their memorial plaque is on the north wall.

Educational events, concerts and exhibitions are also held here. Check the What’s On page for details.
