Running the entire length of the Terrace is the Herbaceous Border, which contains a wide range of plants, such as hardy perennials, annuals, bulbs and Lady Harewood's selection of climbing roses, carefully selected to provide a harmonious blend of 'cool' colours.
Below the Parterre is the Archery Border. Once used for archery practice, when its slope was planted with heather, it now features a magnificent border of sub-tropical plants including, at its eastern end, the largest Eucryphia in the North of England. The Archery Border's 'hot' colour scheme provides a perfect contrast to the Terrace above.
