As part of our continuing support of local growers, reducing food miles and home-grown produce the new vegetable beds in the Walled Garden at Harewood supply both the Courtyard Shop and Courtyard Café. Plot to plate is all about sustainability and responsibility, something Harewood feels strongly about.
The new beds were created in early 2010 and are now all planted up and harvesting is well underway. Utilising a full acre of the area within the Walled Garden and resembling a communal allotment, the layout of the new garden was designed by artist Diane Howse and comprises a series of plots varying in size with grass paths set out in such a way as to orientate the visitor around the garden.
We're growing everything from asparagus to kholrabi and broad beans to radishes as well as herbs, hops and cut flowers.
Find out more about the Walled Garden on our Walled Garden page.
Produce is now available in the Courtyard Shop, and if you're looking for recipe inspiration then you'll find it right here...
