Land Management & Farming

The Estate left dairy farming in 1984 and decided to operate a shared farming arrangement on 300 acres to the south of the Estate and to let the grass parks on seasonal grazing agreements, while retaining a close involvement with the management such as spraying, lopping and tillage application.

This operation expanded in 1995 as more arable land became vacant and it now share farms some 700 acres. The main crops are wheat, barley and oil seed rape. Potatoes and peas are occasionally grown.
