Access for All

Wheelchair symbol Harewood is situated on a natural slope. For your own safety please take care, especially on the steeper inclines marked * on the map available to download below. The wearing
of flat, rubber-soled shoes is recommended. People accompanying those in wheelchairs will need to be strong and able pushers.

DISABLED PARKING
A designated parking area for blue badge
holders is available on the grassed area opposite the House and near the entrance to the Courtyard.

HAREWOOD HOUSE
There are six steps up to the front door of Harewood House and a wheelchair lift is fitted on the right hand side of the steps. House Desk staff will be happy to assist.
-A courtesy indoor wheelchair is available from the House Desk.
-Audio tour of the House. Hearing loops also available.
-For security and conservation reasons you will be required to leave any large bags at the House Desk (all items left at your own risk).
-The use of mobile phones is not permitted inside the House.
-House information available in large print.
-Service dogs are welcome.
-For conservation reasons, only courtesy pushchairs provided can be taken around the House. Slings are available for babies. Enquire at the House Desk.

BELOW STAIRS
This area is fully wheelchair accessible with the use of ramps and a wheelchair lift. Wheelchair access to the Terrace Gallery is via the Below Stairs entrance, please ask there for assistance.

BIRD GARDEN
This is sited on a natural slope. Paths are surfaced with asphalt and most have handrails. Regrettably service dogs are not permitted in the Bird Garden but please enquire at the Information Centre for a member of staff to guide you around.

GARDENS
Paths through the Woodland and Lakeside Walks are surfaced with gravel and some have natural steep gradients. Please take care and use sensible footwear.

MEETING POINT
We suggest that you use the Information
Centre as a meeting point for people who have become separated from their group.

FIRST AID
Please ask at the Gift Shop or Information Centre for assistance.

LOAN OF WHEELCHAIRS
Wheelchairs for use in the gardens and grounds are available to borrow from the Information Centre on a first come, first served basis.

DOGS
Dogs must be kept on a short lead at all times and are not permitted in the Bird Garden or the Adventure Playground.

TOILETS
Accessible toilet facilities are available in
the Main Car Park, by the entrance to the
Courtyard and in the Courtyard. Baby changing facilities are also available at these locations. Please note there are no toilet or baby changing facilities on the State Floor.

CAFÉ
The Terrace and Courtyard Cafés are both wheelchair accessible.

GIFT SHOPS
All shops are wheelchair accessible.

SHUTTLE
A free shuttle service runs between the Arch,
the House, the Church and the Courtyard (for
the Café, Shops and entrance to the Bird Garden). For pick up points see map or flag it down.
The shuttle service is provided by volunteers - should it not be running please ask for assistance at the Information Centre.
We are grateful to the Countryside Agency for their support of the Shuttle.

BOAT
We regret that the boat cannot accommodate wheelchairs.
